The iPhone 16 series, which will be introduced next week, will be among Apple’s best smartphones to date. The new phones were officially unveiled at the recent “It’s Glowtime” event. However, there are some important features that Apple overlooked or did not emphasize enough during this event.
- iPhone 16 Models Are Much Lighter
The iPhone 16 series has a lighter design compared to all previous iPhone models. In particular, the use of titanium in the iPhone 15 series provided significant weight reduction. Apple has succeeded in making the regular iPhone models lighter than their predecessors in 2024. However, due to the larger screen sizes of 6.3 inches and 6.9 inches, this weight difference may not be very noticeable.
- Wi-Fi 7 Support
During the introduction of the iPhone 16 Pro, Apple announced that the new model comes equipped with Wi-Fi 7 technology, which is more advanced than Wi-Fi 6e. This new standard offers faster download speeds and higher connection stability on supported modems. Thus, the internet connection speeds of the new iPhones will be significantly improved compared to previous generations.
- QuickTake and 4K Video Recording
In terms of video features, Apple has upgraded the QuickTake function from 1080p to 4K. This feature allows users to capture high-quality videos without leaving photo mode, ensuring a seamless transition between photos and videos.
- Hidden mmWave Antenna
While mmWave 5G technology is currently only available in the U.S., Apple has hidden this antenna in the iPhone 16 Pro models to place the new Camera Control button. Additionally, the company has finally removed the red antenna ring from the LTE Apple Watch models.
- Incredible Speed Wireless Charging
The iPhone 16 series has received a major update in wireless charging as well. Now, the phones can be charged at speeds of 20W, 25W, and 15W. While the wired charging speed remains the same at 20W as previous generations, the wireless charging side has been increased to 25W for MagSafe chargers and up to 15W for Qi2 chargers.
