New AR Effects and Filters Feature is Coming to WhatsApp

The latest WhatsApp beta version for iOS reveals that an innovative feature is being tested, allowing users to add augmented reality (AR) effects and filters to their video calls. This feature was previously being tested for Android users and is now becoming available for iOS beta testers.

According to WABetaInfo, AR effects and filters for video calls were observed with the iOS WhatsApp beta version v24.17.10.74. When the feature is activated, users will be able to personalize their experience by adding various filters and backgrounds during video calls. However, like all beta test features, the experimental phase of a feature does not guarantee that it will be rolled out for general use.

With this new feature, users will have the option to choose from predetermined background options along with the ability to blur the background. The feature will always be visible and active when a user receives a video call. Additionally, there is a special low light mode available to enhance visibility and better illuminate the face in low light conditions. This mode aims to improve call quality, especially in dark environments.

Furthermore, a touch-up mode that enhances skin tone and allows users to add makeup is also being offered. If you want to maintain your natural look, you can choose not to apply any AR effects or filters during video calls on WhatsApp. This aims to provide a customized experience according to user preferences.

When you start a new video call on WhatsApp, it will automatically remember and apply your last settings, including the selected background and filters. This means that if you have found the perfect filter and effect for your video calls, you won’t have to set these options again every time.

Currently, the AR effects and filters feature for video calls is available to a limited number of iOS beta test users. Additionally, Android users registered in the WhatsApp beta program have had the opportunity to experience this feature for a few months.
