New Features on WhatsApp: AirDrop-like File Sharing and Double Tap Response
WhatsApp is enhancing user experience by introducing file sharing similar to AirDrop and double-tap reactions. With these new features, messaging and file transfer are now faster and more convenient.
New Features from WhatsApp
WhatsApp continues to develop new features for its mobile application. In particular, a file sharing feature similar to AirDrop that can work without an internet connection for the iOS version of WhatsApp stands out among these developments. Additionally, WhatsApp has begun offering augmented reality (AR) call effects and filters to some Android beta test users.
A new report reveals that WhatsApp is testing a double-tap feature for Android users to react to a message. This feature was seen in WhatsApp Android beta version 2.24.16.7. The option to react to messages by double-tapping will facilitate users to quickly express their likes towards messages.
This feature is already available on WhatsApp’s parent company Meta’s other social media platform Instagram. Thanks to the ability to react to messages by double-tapping, users will be able to quickly send a heart emoji instead of long-pressing on the message. If you want to send a different reaction, you still have the option to long-press on the message to open the reaction menu.
This new message reaction feature will also allow users to quickly respond to multimedia content such as photos, videos, and GIFs. WABetaInfo states that there are currently no plans to disable the double-tap message reaction feature, and that this feature will be active by default when it is released.
