Elon Musk’s Grok Artificial Intelligence Chatbot on X Platform
The social media platform X, owned by Elon Musk, has introduced its own AI-powered chatbot named Grok. This innovation is specifically designed for X Premium subscribers, although free X users also have the opportunity to interact with Grok. However, the interactions of free users with Grok are primarily used for training the robot.
There is no definitive information on how long Grok has been using the data of free users for training. However, there is now a new option for users who want to change this situation. X announced via the @Safety account that users have the ability to determine whether their posts will be used in Grok’s training.
To enable or disable this feature, you currently need to go to a special settings page that is only accessible through the web platform. To access this setting, you should click on the three-dot “More” menu in X’s sidebar, then navigate through “Settings and Privacy”, “Privacy and Safety”, and finally select “Grok”.
- On the settings page, you will encounter the following option: “Allow your posts, as well as interactions, inputs, and outputs with Grok, to be used for training and fine-tuning”.
- By unchecking the box next to this option, you can prevent Grok from using your posts for training purposes.
- Additionally, from the same page, you can use the “Delete chat history” option to erase your previous conversations with Grok.
Thus, if you uncheck the box, Grok will stop using your posts for training purposes. This new privacy option gives users more authority over how their data is used.
