Amid intensified clashes between Hezbollah and Israel, Hassan Nasrallah, the leader of the Lebanese militia, issued a stern warning on Wednesday. He stated, “there will be no place safe from our missiles and our drones” if all-out war erupts. Nasrallah also threatened Cyprus, cautioning that it would face consequences if it allows Israel to use its airports and bases in a full-scale conflict.
Hezbollah’s Readiness for War
Nasrallah emphasized that while Hezbollah does not seek a wider conflict, the group is fully prepared for war. He highlighted that Hezbollah, closely aligned with Iran, has a substantial arsenal of weapons yet to be utilized. Nasrallah asserted that if necessary, Hezbollah could target a multitude of precise locations in a potential conflict.
Escalation of Violence and International Efforts
Following Hezbollah’s clashes with Israeli forces and the Hamas-led assault on Israel, over 100 civilians in Israel and Lebanon have lost their lives. Additionally, more than 150,000 individuals have been displaced from their homes. The recent cross-border fighting has intensified, raising concerns of further escalation. Western diplomats have engaged with Lebanese and Israeli officials in an attempt to prevent a full-scale war. Despite efforts to defuse tensions, the Israeli military has approved operational plans for a potential offensive in Lebanon.
