Apple has officially released iOS 18.

After a long beta process, Apple today made iOS 18 available for users to download. This update brings many significant innovations and improvements to iPhones. Let’s take a look at the new features coming with iOS 18.

What’s New in iOS 18?

• New Customization Options on the Home Screen: With iOS 18, users can now position app icons as they wish, independent of the traditional grid layout. It is also possible to change the colors of the icons and adjust their boldness. This allows for a completely personalized home screen. The reason Apple waited until 2024 for this change is still a matter of curiosity.
• A Brand New Control Center: The Control Center is getting a refresh with iOS 18. Users can group controls more practically, while developers can add special controls from their applications. Additionally, the Control Center can be divided into pages, allowing different controls to be used on each page.
• RCS Support: With iOS 18, Apple is also introducing support for RCS (Rich Communication Services) messaging. Users can add new effects to their texts and also get the option to respond with new emojis.
• Photos App: The Photos app features a completely revamped opening page and layout. Users can browse photos based on criteria such as time, people, or recent days, can reorder media, and perform more actions with the “Collections” feature.
• App Lock Feature: Users now have the ability to lock specific applications. It is possible to activate Face ID protection from the menu that appears by long-pressing an app icon. This way, those who want to open the app must pass through Face ID protection.
• Apple Intelligence: One of the key features of iOS 18 is Apple’s artificial intelligence suite called Apple Intelligence. However, to fully utilize this feature, one will have to wait for the iOS 18.1 update. More information about Apple Intelligence can be found here.

How to Install iOS 18?

• Open the Settings app.
• Tap on General.
• Select the Software Update line.
• Your iPhone will notify you of the new iOS 18 update.
• Select the “Download and Install” option and follow the on-screen instructions.
