Android Manufacturers Respond to the iPhone 16’s Camera Button

It appears that Android smartphone manufacturers do not want to miss out on the trend of a dedicated camera shutter button that has emerged with the iPhone 16. Two major Android manufacturers have already confirmed that they are working on a camera button for their smartphones.

Nubia‘s CEO Ni Fei announced on the Chinese social media platform Weibo that the upcoming Nubia Z70 will feature a “more realistic” camera button. Fei stated that this button will be a two-stage button, allowing for focusing when half-pressed and taking a picture when fully pressed. This feature fits the definition of a “shutter” button perfectly.

However, Nubia is not the only Android manufacturer working on a camera button for its smartphone. Recently, it was revealed that OPPO will also be joining this trend. The OPPO Find X8 series will be equipped with a camera shutter button similar to the iPhone 16, which the company has named “Quick Button” designed for “freezing action“. This development indicates that the process of transforming smartphones into cameras is accelerating.

Phones Will Be More Like Cameras Now

It is still unclear whether OPPO will add a physical button or provide gesture support similar to the iPhone 16’s Camera Control button. Apple’s Camera Control button is designed as a two-stage button that supports swiping gestures for zooming in or out and switching between different modes. With this clever move, Apple has managed to transform phones into cameras. Now, it seems that the entire market is working to integrate this standard into their smartphones.
