Live Updates from the 76th Emmy Awards
Television’s most anticipated night is finally here! The 76th Emmy Awards are set to kick off at 8 p.m. Eastern Time at the iconic Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, with a live broadcast on ABC. This year, the ceremony is hosted by the talented father-son duo, Eugene and Dan Levy, renowned for their work on the beloved series “Schitt’s Creek.”
Due to the writers’ and actors’ strikes that occurred last year, this marks a unique occasion, as it will be the second Emmys ceremony of 2024. The first event took place in January after a postponement from the original date in September.
Leading the pack in the comedy category is the critically-acclaimed show “The Bear,” which has garnered an impressive 23 nominations, setting a new record for comedy series nominations. This surpasses the previous record held by “30 Rock” for 15 years. It’s important to note that these nominations are based on Season 2 of “The Bear,” as the third season was released earlier this summer. In the drama category, “Shogun” stands out with the most nominations.
Additionally, several new shows such as “Palm Royale” and “Mr. & Mrs. Smith,” along with the limited series “Baby Reindeer,” are also in the running for multiple awards, promising an exciting night ahead.
At the Creative Arts Emmys held last weekend, the talented songwriting duo Benj Pasek and Justin Paul achieved EGOT status after winning the award for Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics for their song “Which of the Pickwick Triplets Did It?” from the hit series “Only Murders in the Building.”
Here are the Emmy winners announced so far:
- Best Comedy Guest Actress: Jamie Lee Curtis in “The Bear.”
