Windows 11 Users Experience Windows 7: Explorer7 Plugin
For Windows 11 users who want to relive the Windows 7 experience, meet the Explorer7 extension. Discover how to use the old Windows 7 interface on your modern operating system.
Windows 11 Users Experience Windows 7
For users who still haven’t adapted to the Start Menu and Taskbar of Windows 11, it’s possible to regain the nostalgic features of Windows 7. The plugin named Explorer7 is a third-party project aimed at integrating the Windows 7 taskbar onto Windows 11.
Although this application was primarily developed for Windows 8.1, it has been successfully working on Windows 10 and 11 as well. Currently in public beta, this software may contain some bugs, so we recommend using it cautiously. Additionally, installing the application requires a more complex process compared to a standard application installation. To run Explorer7, a Windows 7 image file is needed to obtain the necessary files and components.
In short, if you do not have a deep curiosity about the software, we do not recommend installing this application on your main device. It would be a safer approach for Windows 11 users to try Explorer7 on a backup device or a virtual machine.
Alternative Applications Available
For those looking for a more suitable alternative to the default Taskbar and Start Menu of Windows 11, projects like Start11, StartAllBack, or ExplorerPatcher stand out as more stable and user-friendly applications. However, since there is no access to the source codes of these alternatives, they may not be sufficient if you want to educate yourself in software development.
If you wish to download Explorer7, you can access the application from its GitHub page.
