On Saturday, residents of the capital, Kyiv, experienced a night filled with explosions and the sounds of antiaircraft fire. The aftermath revealed debris from Iranian-designed attack drones scattered throughout the city’s government quarter, notably near the Parliament building. It remains uncertain whether these drones were specifically aiming for the Parliament or if they were intercepted and subsequently fell in the vicinity. The debris caused a grass fire, but fortunately, no significant damage was reported to the Parliament structure itself.

In the eastern part of the country, a Russian offensive aimed at the town of Pokrovsk—an area that has become a focal point of conflict in recent months—has encountered a notable standstill. This halt has persisted along one critical segment of the front for over a week, as reported by soldiers actively engaged in the region. Battlefield maps, which have been compiled from open sources such as satellite imagery and publicly shared videos, also corroborate this pause in Russian advances.

Despite this temporary lull, the situation remains fluid, particularly in the surrounding villages and fields east of Pokrovsk. The town serves as a vital logistical hub for Ukraine’s defense efforts in the eastern Donbas region, and there has been no indication that the large Russian contingent stationed in the area has abandoned its ambitions to push toward Pokrovsk.

On Tuesday, Gennady Yudin, the head of the White Angels evacuation team—a unit of the national police—was observed searching for a woman designated for evacuation from the Pokrovsk district. This illustrates the ongoing human impact of the conflict and the efforts being made to assist those caught in the crossfire.
