New Fashion Series by Jony Ive: Collaboration with Moncler

The famous designer Jony Ive, who was responsible for a large part of the iPhone design before leaving Apple, has designed a new series of flashy jackets set to be released at the end of this month. It can easily be said that this series will not appeal to everyone, but it will certainly be an interesting product for those interested.

I’ve company LoveFrom collaborated with the Italian luxury outdoor fashion brand Moncler to design a new series referred to by Fast Company as a “nod to the military coat“. The exact meaning of this description can be debated, but it is also described as a series of “light, gender-neutral pastel pieces“. Fortunately, along with these descriptions, some visuals have also been shared.

  • This collection, which is essentially composed of a vest, consists of a group over which you can wear a “jacket, parka, or hooded poncho“.
  • The most striking feature of the design is the buttons of the garment. Although these buttons look like normal buttons, their magnetic structures allow you to change the outer garments very quickly.
  • This feature enables you to have a modular jacket that can instantly adapt to the weather conditions.

Fast Company reports that LoveFrom and Moncler spent four years developing the coat series. Jony Ive states that he is in search of creating something simple and elegant. Since leaving Apple in 2019, Ive has spent much of his post-Apple career creating quirky minimalist designs for the world’s wealthiest residents. Recently, he also designed the royal insignia for King III. Charles‘ coronation ceremony.

Additionally, he is said to be collaborating with OpenAI CEO Sam Altman on a kind of artificial intelligence wearable hardware. However, considering how long his designs take and that he worked on this jacket design for four years, it is worthwhile to expect such a product to be presented soon.
