Jorge Ramos to Depart Univision After 40 Remarkable Years

Jorge Ramos, a distinguished figure in Spanish-language journalism and renowned for his incisive questioning of world leaders, including notable figures like Fidel Castro and former President Donald J. Trump, is set to leave Univision at the conclusion of 2024. This decision follows an illustrious 40-year tenure at the network.

The mutual decision not to renew Mr. Ramos’s contract, which is nearing its expiration, was announced by TelevisaUnivision, the parent company of Univision, in a statement released on Monday. At 66 years of age, Mr. Ramos will continue to serve as a co-anchor on “Noticiero Univision,” the flagship evening news program he has helmed for an impressive 38 years, through the upcoming U.S. presidential election in November.

In a heartfelt address at the conclusion of “Noticiero Univision” on Monday night, Mr. Ramos reflected on his journey, stating, “This decision has been difficult, sad, and took a long time. I’m profoundly thankful for these four decades. Univision has literally been my second home. I’m very proud to be a part of this great team of journalists.”

As for his future endeavors, the specifics remain unclear. Mr. Ramos indicated that he would soon share his professional plans with his audience. He expressed optimism about the possibilities that lie ahead, stating, “There is much to do in journalism, and that truly fills me with enthusiasm. This is not an immediate goodbye.
