This year, Apple has significantly increased the charging speed of the Apple Watch Series 10, allowing users to reach 80% capacity in just 30 minutes. Considering that the new Apple Watch is expected to focus on health features, it can be said that this update is quite beneficial.

Looking at the phone side, it is noteworthy that Apple has offered much higher charging speeds, especially with MagSafe technology, along with the iPhone 16 series. In the new model, the MagSafe charging speed has been increased from 15W to 25W. With this significant increase, the charging speed of the iPhone 16 now surpasses the official USB-C wired charging speed.

In recent years, it has been observed that many Android device manufacturers have adopted significantly higher speeds for both wired and wireless charging. For example, Huawei’s triple-foldable phone supports 66W wired and 50W wireless charging speeds. In contrast, Apple has taken a more cautious approach, maintaining 20W and 15W speeds in previous generations. Several iPhone generations before the iPhone 16 could reach 25W by exceeding the official 20W limit, provided you had a suitable charger. However, this limit is officially surpassed for the first time.

Wireless charging speeds have been increased to 25W for MagSafe chargers and 15W for Qi2 chargers. To take advantage of these speeds, you will need a 30W or higher power adapter and a new MagSafe charger. For Qi2 speeds, it will be necessary to switch to wireless chargers that support the new standard.

Apple states that the 25W MagSafe charging will provide 50% charge in just 30 minutes and that this speed is equivalent to the 20W wired charging speed. They also express that you can reach 50% charge in 30 minutes using a USB-C cable, as has been standard for years. Higher wireless charging speeds will also apply to four different iPhone 16 models, including the base, Plus, Pro, and Pro Max.
