Changes in Samsung’s Software Update Program
Samsung’s recent changes in its software update program affect the user experience in several ways. Learn detailed information about the advantages and innovations of the new updates.
Samsung announced four Galaxy devices that are excluded from the software update program. These devices are listed as the Galaxy Z Flip 5G, Galaxy Tab S7, Galaxy Tab S7+, and Galaxy M31s, which were released in 2020. The exclusion of these devices from the update program means they will no longer receive software updates or the latest security patches.
However, in certain critical situations, some critical updates or patches may be provided to ensure device security. If you are using one of these devices released in 2020, you will no longer receive updates containing new features or security patches. This situation may leave your device vulnerable in terms of security; however, your device will continue to operate normally, unless it is attacked or another issue arises.
Like many other technology companies, Samsung continues the tradition of providing software updates for a certain period. Earlier this year, the company announced that it would offer seven years of major operating system upgrades for Galaxy smartphones. These updates encompass both Android operating system updates and security updates.
However, it should be noted that the mentioned devices are not included in this seven-year update cycle and that it is limited to devices released in 2024 and beyond. Additionally, Samsung informed its users by implementing a similar seven-year operating system update plan for the Tizen operating system in its AI TVs.
Another device that experienced a change in its update cycle is the Galaxy Note 20, which transitioned from a monthly update schedule to a quarterly update schedule. This situation requires users to be cautious about the timeliness of their devices.
