Apple Introduces the iPhone 16 Series

Apple has officially introduced the highly anticipated new iPhone 16 series. This new series consists of four different models: the iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max. The two non-Pro models, namely the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus, are positioned as the entry models of the series. Both models are almost identical in features, except for their screen sizes. Now, let’s take a closer look at the innovations that the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus offer to users…

Design

Aside from the Dynamic Island, it can be said that Apple has not made a significant change in its iPhone designs since the iPhone 11. The same applies to the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus. Both models feature only minor tweaks compared to their iPhone 15 counterparts. The most notable design change relates to the rear cameras. Contrary to expectations, Apple has reduced the square camera block used since the iPhone 11 and has opted for a vertical arrangement for the two camera lenses. The LED flash is located outside this camera block.

There are also some innovations on the sides of the phones. First of all, the Action Button, which was previously available only on Pro models, is now also offered on the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus. Additionally, there is a new Capture Button located just below the power button. This button primarily functions as a camera shutter button but also has a capacitive structure that allows for swipe gestures.

The iPhone 16 and 16 Plus will be available in various color options including white, black, ultramarine (blue), teal (green), and pink.

Display

The iPhone 16 is equipped with a 6.1-inch display, while the iPhone 16 Plus has a 6.7-inch screen. Both models’ displays can reach a maximum brightness of 2,000 nits and can drop to as low as 1 nit in the dark. Surprisingly, both models come with the Dynamic Island. However, the highly anticipated ProMotion feature is still not available on the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus displays. Apple seems to have postponed the 120Hz experience once again to the iPhone 17 series by only allowing the screens to operate at 60Hz.

Processor and Technical Specifications

Apple guarantees that AI features will work on the new iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus models. For this reason, the devices use the next-generation 3nm A18 chip. Recall that the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus used last year’s A16 chip and had RAM capacities limited to 6GB. Therefore, Apple Intelligence features cannot be utilized on those models. However, the situation is quite different for the 16 series. Apple has opted for the A18 chip with a sufficiently fast NPU and likely 8GB of RAM in its new phones. In terms of storage space, there is no change compared to last year; both models start with 128GB of storage. Additionally, 256GB and 512GB options are available, but these options will come at a higher price.

Cameras

Both the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus come with a dual-camera system. Both phones feature the 48MP main camera lens used in the iPhone 15 series. The ultra-wide camera lens will also have similar features. However, some improvements are expected for better low-light performance. Additionally, it will be possible to take macro photos thanks to the automatic focus feature.

What are the Prices of the iPhone 16?

The price of the iPhone 16’s 128 GB version is set at $799, while the 256 GB version will be offered at $899, and the 512 GB version will be available for $999.
