The Controversial Figure: Apollo Quiboloy
Apollo Carreon Quiboloy, a prominent doomsday preacher, has recently found himself at the center of serious allegations including sexual abuse and human trafficking. While he has amassed a devoted following worldwide, his influence stretches beyond the realm of religion, significantly impacting politicians within his home country of the Philippines.
After a lengthy and intense manhunt that engaged thousands of law enforcement officers, Mr. Quiboloy, aged 74, finally surrendered to Philippine authorities. Through his legal team, he has vehemently denied all accusations leveled against him.
About the Preacher
Known to his followers as the “Appointed Son of God,” Quiboloy has been a figure of evangelism, reaching believers from various corners of the globe, including countries such as Ukraine, Brazil, and the United States. Despite his global outreach, he has been under scrutiny by investigators for several years.
In 2021, a federal grand jury in the United States indicted Quiboloy alongside several church officials on multiple serious charges. These included:
- Conspiracy to engage in sex trafficking by force
- Sex trafficking of minors
- Fraud
The indictment alleged that Quiboloy and his associates recruited young women and girls to serve in a role referred to as “pastorals.” This position was ostensibly meant for tasks like cooking and cleaning, but it also involved giving massages to Quiboloy and, in some disturbing cases, engaging in sexual acts with him.
