In a separate ruling, a Moscow court ordered that Mr. Medina and Mr. Ante be remanded into custody on charges of mercenary activity—an offense recognized under both Russian and international law. Relatives of the two servicemen confirmed to The New York Times that the individuals featured in the video, being escorted by security officers and subsequently interrogated, were indeed Mr. Medina and Mr. Ante.
