TON Network Restores Operations After Outages Linked to DOGS Token Minting
TON Network successfully resumes operations following recent outages caused by DOGS token minting issues. Discover how the network navigated these challenges and what it means for users and the broader crypto ecosystem.
TON Network Restores Operations After Recent Outages
The TON network has successfully resumed its operations after experiencing a second outage in less than 24 hours. The announcement was made by the TON Community Telegram channel just after 9:30 AM on Thursday, Hong Kong time, stating, “TON network is fully operational! TON-based asset withdrawals and deposits in Wallet will be credited in due course.”
This latest outage lasted for just over four hours, and the TON team attributed the disruption to a “heavy load related to DOGS token minting.” This incident marks the second downtime for the network in a short span, following a prior interruption on Tuesday afternoon U.S. time. The network managed to restart just after midnight following that incident, which was also linked to the DOGS token minting activity, as confirmed by TON.
According to data from CoinDesk Indices, the native token of the TON protocol, Toncoin, saw a significant increase of approximately 8% in value following the news of the network’s restoration. However, it is important to note that the token is still trading below its previous levels before Telegram CEO Pavel Durov’s recent arrest.
While it is crucial to recognize that Telegram and TON operate as legally distinct entities, they are closely intertwined, with each relying on the other for various operational aspects.
In a related development, on Wednesday local time, Durov was indicted in a French court on multiple charges. These include enabling illicit transactions and child exploitation on the platform, failing to cooperate with law enforcement, and providing encryption services without adequate controls. This indictment follows his recent arrest near Paris and adds further complexity to the ongoing situation surrounding Telegram and its leadership.
