Alchemy Expands Footprint with Acquisition of Bware Labs

In a significant move to enhance its blockchain developer platform, Alchemy has officially acquired Bware Labs, the prominent company behind the infrastructure provider platform known as Bware. This strategic acquisition is anticipated to boost Alchemy’s workforce by approximately 25%, further solidifying its position in the rapidly evolving web3 landscape.

Announced on Thursday, Alchemy disclosed the acquisition but chose not to reveal the specific purchase price. However, company representatives informed CoinDesk that this marks their largest acquisition to date, adding a talented team of 41 developers and engineers from Bware Labs to Alchemy’s existing workforce, which now totals 190 individuals.

Founded in 2021 by a group of five engineers in Romania, Bware Labs has established itself with a mission to deliver cost-effective blockchain tooling and infrastructure solutions tailored for web3 developers. The integration of Bware into Alchemy is expected to enhance the quality and range of services offered to its user base.

With this acquisition, Alchemy is set to broaden its operational base into Europe, a key market that currently represents about a quarter of the global web3 ecosystem. Until now, Alchemy’s operations have been predominantly centered in the United States, with headquarters located in San Francisco and New York City.

In an interview with CoinDesk, Alchemy’s co-founder and Chief Technology Officer, Joseph Lau, emphasized the importance of this expansion, stating, “The EU represents about a quarter of the Web3 market, and so it’s just even more important for us to be there today, as we look to expand.” He further elaborated, “Both from a serving-developers-better perspective and from a hiring standpoint, we really wanted to establish a presence in the EU.”
