Apple Announces iPhone 16 Launch Date

Recently, Apple made its official announcement by sending out invitations regarding the highly anticipated iPhone 16 launch date. An interesting detail that caught attention in the invitations was that the event is scheduled for a Monday. Typically, Apple prefers to unveil new iPhone models on the Tuesday or Wednesday following Labor Day in the U.S. However, this year, the date of September 9 was chosen, which unusually falls on a Monday.

So, what is the reason behind this unusual day choice? The answer is quite simple: Apple may have predicted that the unveiling of the iPhone 16 would coincide with the presidential debate taking place on September 10, Tuesday in the U.S. The discussions between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump during this debate are likely to draw significant media attention. Therefore, launching the iPhone 16 one day earlier, on Monday, allows Apple to maintain focus on its product for at least one day.

Will Pre-Order and Sales Dates Change?

Although the announcement date has changed, it is not expected that the pre-order or release dates will be affected. Generally, Apple starts accepting pre-orders for the iPhone on the first Friday following the launch event, and this year that date is set for September 13. The first shipment date for the new iPhones is expected to be the second Friday after the launch event, which is September 20. Additionally, the date when you can purchase the new iPhones from Apple stores is likely to coincide with these dates.

Of course, Apple may adopt a different strategy this year. However, looking back, it is seen that Apple has not deviated from the Friday system even during some challenging times. In fact, even when the entire series was postponed, the “Friday rule” continued to be applied. Therefore, it is predictable that Apple will maintain the same system this year as well.
