Targeting Energy Infrastructure
In a sweeping and aggressive move, Russia unleashed over 200 missiles and drones across various regions of Ukraine yesterday. President Volodymyr Zelensky condemned this assault, labeling it as “one of the largest strikes” observed during the 30-month conflict. The extensive barrage resulted in significant damage to energy infrastructure throughout the nation, leading to widespread local blackouts.
- Local authorities in Kyiv reported outages affecting daily life.
- Lviv, a prominent city in western Ukraine, also experienced similar blackouts in the aftermath of the strikes.
Tragically, officials confirmed that four individuals lost their lives and more than 30 others sustained injuries due to the missile strikes. “Like most previous Russian assaults, this one is just as vile, targeting critical civilian infrastructure,” Zelensky expressed in a post on Telegram, highlighting the indiscriminate nature of the attacks.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian forces continued their offensive operations in the Kursk region of Russia, an initiative they initiated three weeks ago. According to Zelensky, Ukrainian troops have successfully taken control of two additional settlements; however, these claims have yet to be independently verified.
