In a devastating series of events, at least 37 individuals tragically lost their lives in two separate bus accidents across Pakistan on Sunday. Details of the Accidents

The first incident occurred in the southwestern province of Balochistan, where a bus transporting pilgrims returning from Iraq veered off the road and plunged into a ravine along a coastal highway. According to rescue officials, this tragic accident resulted in the deaths of 12 individuals and left 23 others injured. Preliminary reports suggest that speeding or brake failure may have been contributing factors.

Every year, approximately 50,000 Pakistanis make the journey to Iraq to participate in the Shiite holiday of Arbaeen, a significant religious observance that has drawn large numbers of devotees.

The second accident took place in Kahuta, near the northern city of Rawalpindi, where a bus careened into a ditch, claiming the lives of all 25 passengers on board. This unfortunate group included four women and a child. Rescue official Farooq Butt reported that one individual was rescued from the wreckage but succumbed to injuries en route to the hospital. The cause of this accident remains undetermined at this time.

Government Response

In the wake of these tragedies, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed his deep sorrow over the loss of life and extended condolences to the bereaved families. The crash in Balochistan came just days after another heartbreaking incident where 28 Pakistani pilgrims lost their lives in a bus accident in Iran, with 23 others sustaining injuries, 14 of whom were critically hurt, as reported by Pakistani Embassy officials in Tehran.

These incidents underscore the urgent need for improved road safety measures and stricter enforcement of traffic regulations to prevent such senseless loss of life in the future.
