Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Suspends Independent Presidential Bid to Endorse Donald Trump
In a surprising turn of events, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. announced that he is suspending his independent presidential campaign and will endorse Donald Trump in the upcoming November election. During a speech delivered on Friday, Kennedy Jr. revealed his intentions to remove his name from the ballot in key battleground states, asserting that his candidacy might inadvertently assist Democratic opponent Kamala Harris.
“Many months ago, I promised the American people that I would withdraw from the race if I became a spoiler,” Kennedy Jr. stated, emphasizing the gravity of his decision. “A spoiler is someone who has no realistic chance of winning but can significantly alter the outcome of the election. At this moment, I no longer believe I can achieve electoral victory due to the overwhelming censorship and media control I have faced.”
He continued, “Our polling has consistently indicated that by remaining on the ballot in battleground states, I would likely hand the election over to the Democrats, with whom I strongly disagree on critical issues such as censorship, war, and chronic disease.”
Despite his withdrawal in pivotal states, Kennedy Jr. encouraged his supporters to continue backing him in the majority of states where their votes are unlikely to influence the overall outcome. As part of his withdrawal process, he has already initiated steps in at least two states, Arizona and Pennsylvania.
His decision to endorse Trump came after several discussions with the former president over the past few weeks. “I am now throwing my full support behind President Trump,” Kennedy Jr. declared.
Interestingly, prior to his speech, Kennedy Jr.’s campaign had filed a document in a Pennsylvania court indicating his endorsement of Trump. However, a spokesperson for Kennedy Jr. later clarified that the court filing was made in error.
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is not just a political figure; he is also the son of the late Attorney General and Senator Robert Kennedy and the nephew of President John F. Kennedy, both of whom have left an indelible mark on American political history. He acknowledged that his endorsement of Trump has caused some friction within his immediate family, noting that five of his relatives released a statement calling his support for Trump “a sad ending to a sad story” and reaffirmed their backing of Kamala Harris.
Meanwhile, campaigning in Las Vegas, Donald Trump expressed his appreciation for Kennedy Jr.’s endorsement, stating, “I want to thank Bobby, that was very nice. That was really very nice. That’s big. He’s a great guy, respected by everybody.”
In recent weeks, both the Kennedy Jr. and Trump campaigns have engaged in a mutual exchange of compliments. They have both accused Democrats of manipulating the legal system for political gain and have hinted at a willingness to collaborate against Harris in the pursuit of their shared interests.
The highly anticipated U.S. presidential election is scheduled to take place on November 5.
