Google Maps Releases New User Interface Update for iPhones

Google is offering a new update for the Maps application that includes a significant change to the bar at the bottom for iPhone users. This update comes after the bottom bar design revision made for Android smartphones in July.

With the new update, the number of tabs in the bottom bar of the Google Maps app for iOS has been reduced from five to three. The “Go” tab has been removed, while the “Saved Trips” list is now located under the newly renamed “You” tab. With this update, the bottom bar on iOS now only shows the Explore, You, and Contribute tabs. Additionally, the “Updates” tab has also been removed.

At the top of the updated “You” tab page, new tabs for “Notifications” and “Messages” have been added. These two headings were previously found within the “Updates” tab. Furthermore, the search bar has been removed from the “You” tab page. No changes have been made to the “Contribute” tab.

Overall, the newly designed Google Maps bottom bar offers users a clearer, more organized, and cleaner appearance. This change can be seen in the iOS version of Google Maps v6.129.1 and appears to be a server-side update. Therefore, if your app is open, you may need to close it and completely exit from the recent apps list to see the changes made. However, keep in mind that these updates may not have reached your device yet.
