Kaspersky’s New Research: Artificial Intelligence and Consumer Interactions in the Digital World
Kaspersky unveils the increasing role of artificial intelligence in social life with its new research titled “Excitement, Superstition, and Great Distrust – How Global Consumers Interact with the Digital World.” The research emphasizes how AI is positioned today as an effective business partner alongside people and how it can take on new roles in trusted areas.
According to Similarweb data, the popular chatbot ChatGPT attracted attention by drawing 153 million visitors in its first month after being launched in November 2022. Subsequently, it achieved great success by reaching 2 billion visits in April 2024. Kaspersky conducted a comprehensive study to examine the trust in artificial intelligence and investigated how this technology plays a role in many different areas, from management positions in workplaces to making vital decisions.
According to the participants in Turkey, 40% believe that artificial intelligence could be a fairer boss due to its potential for neutrality. Additionally, the potential of AI in the field of education is noteworthy; 62% of participants predict that children will receive education through virtual experiences and the Metaverse in the near future.
50% of participants indicate that artificial intelligence has already become an important part of their lives, while 45% express that AI offers many opportunities and has the potential to improve the future. Furthermore, 58% believe that AI can produce trustworthy artworks. Artificial intelligence is also beginning to take a more prominent place in daily life in Turkey. 79% of participants plan to use AI to make their daily lives more efficient.
Similarly, 57% of the respondents from Turkey state that they are ready to use AI chatbots for online conversations, while 44% consider turning to AI to find the right partner in friendship applications. Additionally, 56% believe that if virtual characters start to replace real-life partners, human relationships may change under the influence of AI.
Kaspersky Machine Learning Technology Research Group Manager Vladislav Tushkanov stated, “We observe that the potential of artificial intelligence to assist in various fields is increasingly growing. These technologies can assume personal roles such as romance, education, and work, beyond traditional applications like data processing and analysis. However, it is essential to remember that AI also brings risks such as overconfidence and deepfakes.”
Kaspersky offers the following recommendations against AI-related threats:
- Use a reliable cybersecurity solution that can detect and block malicious pages. These solutions can help identify and block phishing emails and websites aimed at stealing personal information.
- Be cautious of the risks posed by deepfakes. Do not trust requests for data or money immediately; verify the situation through alternative communication methods.
- Protect your personal data against AI-enabled identity theft by using an online privacy checker and minimize the amount of personal information available online.
