As the S&P 500 approaches yet another record high, it is likely that the stock market will become an even more prominent talking point on the campaign trail. President Joe Biden, although less vocal than his predecessor, has also referenced the stock market to showcase the strength of the economy under his administration.

However, the reality of what influences Wall Street is far more intricate than political rhetoric suggests. The performance of stocks, much like the broader economy, is subject to a multitude of factors.
