Microsoft’s New Multi-Application Camera Feature for Windows 11
Microsoft has introduced a new multi-app camera feature for Windows 11. This allows users to use the camera simultaneously across multiple applications, making video conferencing and content creation even easier.
Microsoft’s New Windows 11 Preview Update
Microsoft has released a highly anticipated new Windows 11 preview build, offering an exciting update for users to try out. As usual, after the release of the build, tech enthusiasts have begun to discover hidden and unannounced changes and new features.
The latest Dev build, 26120.1542, introduces two new options for users to utilize their webcams across multiple applications. In the current system, Windows 11 only allows the webcam to be used in one application at a time. This limitation means that when you open the Camera app during a Zoom call, you encounter a message saying “Close other applications” for the previously open application. However, with the 26120.1542 build, Microsoft removes this limitation.
A hidden feature that comes with the new update is the “Multi-App Camera” option, which allows users to stream video to multiple applications simultaneously. This feature is specifically designed for individuals with hearing impairments, enabling multiple video applications to stream from the camera at the same time. Microsoft’s statement on this matter is as follows:
“The new feature is designed to allow multiple video applications to stream from the camera simultaneously for those with hearing impairments.”
To enable the “Multi-App Camera” feature, you can navigate to Settings > Bluetooth & Devices > Camera, select the camera you want to use, and then access the ‘Advanced Camera Settings’ section. Microsoft plans to roll out this update to all Windows 11 users soon. If you need this feature, you can easily use it after receiving the update.
