This exhilarating team-building activity has gained tremendous popularity around the world, and Qatar is no exception.
Aadel Haleem had the opportunity to meet the Masterpiece Dragon Boat team, comprised of Filipino expatriates who actively compete in both domestic and international dragon boat races. The team members shared how dragon boating has positively impacted their physical, mental, and emotional well-being, fostering a strong sense of community and support among them.
In a heartwarming segment, Aadel also connected with a remarkable group of cancer survivors and their devoted supporters. This tight-knit community relies on one another for strength and encouragement, while also taking time to honor the memories of those who have tragically lost their battle with cancer.
Shifting our focus from the sea to the serene confines of a swimming pool, we meet Abdulla Alkhaldi, a talented 17-year-old Qatari swimmer. Abdulla has already made a name for himself by clinching several medals at regional competitions and harbors dreams of representing Qatar on the prestigious Olympic stage. During his visit to Doha’s Sports City, Aadel caught up with Abdulla, reflecting on his formative years and aspirations in the sport.
Beyond competitive sports, water also serves as a powerful healing medium. Laila Humairah took a trip to the peaceful Zulal Wellness Resort by Chiva-Som in northern Qatar, where she discovered the six foundational pillars of wellness. Laila experienced a traditional Japanese water therapy known as watsu, which beautifully blends Japan’s ‘Zen Shiatsu’ massage with modern hydrotherapy techniques that emerged in the 1980s.
On her return to Doha, Laila embraced a bold challenge by immersing herself in an ice bath. Research indicates that cold water immersion can significantly reduce inflammation, enhance blood circulation, and help regulate the body’s nervous system. According to wellness company Awaken, their ice bath sessions have become one of the most sought-after classes, drawing enthusiasts eager to experience its revitalizing benefits.
