Qualcomm has announced significant performance improvements in CPU, GPU, and artificial intelligence (AI) processing with its latest technology product, the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 Mobile Platform. This new platform is reported to not only provide energy efficiency but also support on-device AI language models. Advanced AI solutions, such as Baichuan-7B and the 1B parameter version of Llama 2, are included among these models.

The company states that with the advantages provided by the new Qualcomm Kryo CPU, a 40% increase in GPU power, a 30% improvement in AI performance, and a 12% reduction in overall power consumption will lead to a 20% increase in CPU performance. Additionally, it is capable of offering professional-level camera and video capture features with a 12-bit triple ISP and 4K sHDR support.

One of the standout features of the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 is the AI-assisted photography function called AI Remosaic. This feature helps achieve sharper and higher resolution photos without color distortion and graininess. Another notable feature is AI Video Retouch. This technology provides stunning images filled with details by applying real-time tone mapping.

Chris Patrick, Qualcomm’s Senior Vice President and General Manager of Mobile Phones, emphasized in a statement about the new platform that the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 will bring the best features of the 7 series to mid-range devices. This way, many features, including AI capabilities, can be offered at more accessible prices.

Qualcomm announced that the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 Mobile Platform will be featured in the phones of brands such as Realme, Samsung, Sharp, and Xiaomi in the coming months. Notably, Xiaomi is expected to release a device with this new platform in September.
