New Developments About Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 6 Slim

It was expected that Samsung would introduce multiple Galaxy Z Fold 6 models this year; however, at the company’s second Unpacked event, it presented only a single model. There is still no hint regarding the release of the previously rumored Galaxy Z Fold 6 FE, Galaxy Z Fold 6 Ultra, or Galaxy Z Fold 6 Slim. However, a new report shared by The Elec suggests that Samsung continues to express its desire to offer different foldable phone models.

The information circulating online and the details shared by The Elec raise the possibility of using titanium instead of stainless steel (SUS) for the back cover of the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Slim model. The back cover plays an important role as a supporting component between the foldable screen and the hinge. The South Korea-based tech giant is continuing its efforts to make a choice between these two materials. It is stated that Samsung has completed the development process for the titanium back cover planned for the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Slim, which is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2024.

Generally, Samsung prefers materials such as stainless steel (SUS) and carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) for the back covers of foldable phones. However, titanium had not previously been used in such components. Producing a back cover for a foldable phone presents more challenges compared to traditional phones.

In previous periods, it was claimed that Samsung had abandoned plans to launch an affordable Galaxy Z Fold 6 FE model due to some production issues. However, the detection of the SM-F958N model’s test firmware on Samsung’s servers indicates that the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Slim is still under development.
