Google Unveils the Renewed Pixel 9 Series

At the eagerly awaited Made by Google hardware event where Google introduced the Pixel 9 series, it also announced some new products and devices. This event allowed us to witness the evolution of the Pixel series, which holds a significant place in the tech world.

Pixel 9 Series

The renewed Pixel 9 series consists of three different smartphones and a foldable phone model. The foundation of this series is formed by the Pixel 9 with a 6.3-inch display, the Pixel 9 Pro XL with a 6.8-inch display, and the smaller option, the Pixel 9 Pro, which also has a 6.3-inch size.

Foldable Pixel 9 Pro Fold

In addition to the Pixel 9 series, Google also introduced the foldable phone model Pixel 9 Pro Fold. The renewed Fold model features a longer and thinner structure compared to the previous version. The device offers a 6.3-inch display on the outside and houses a larger 8-inch display on the inside. Powered by the G4 Tensor chip, this device offers a maximum brightness of 2,700 nits compared to 1,450 nits of the original Pixel Fold. The price of the Pixel 9 Pro Fold has been set at $1,799 and it will be available for sale on September 4.

Gemini AI Assistant and New Artificial Intelligence Features

The new Pixel devices are equipped with the Gemini AI assistant, developed to facilitate users’ daily lives. This assistant can be used to search for information within applications or ask questions about newly taken photos. Additionally, two new artificial intelligence applications were introduced with the Pixel 9 series:

  • Pixel Screenshots: Allows you to search for information in screenshots with AI support.
  • Pixel Studio: Enables you to create images from text.

Moreover, the improved cameras of the Pixel 9 series offer some AI-based image editing tools like the “Add Me” option. This feature allows you to combine two scenes and place one in a group photo. The Magic Editor in Google Photos now allows you to utilize generative AI to change all parts of a photo, such as the sky.

Pixel Watch 3

Looking at other Pixel products, we see that Google’s new Pixel Watch 3 comes with a 41 mm model as well as a larger 45 mm option. The Pixel Watch 3 stands out with its thin bezel offering more screen space, a new ultra-wideband chip, a brighter screen that can reach up to 2,000 nits, and a multitude of new fitness features. One of the most interesting new features is its ability to detect whether the user’s pulse has stopped or not. It has a function to call emergency services if the user does not respond to a check-in request or does not feel any movement. This feature will initially be available in Europe. The 41 mm Pixel Watch 3 will be available for $349.99 with Bluetooth, while the 45 mm option will be priced at $399.99. Both models will hit the market on September 10.

Pixel Buds Pro 2

Google’s new Pixel Buds Pro 2 model features a smaller and lighter design. It is equipped with new drivers and a new Tensor A1 chip that enhances active noise cancellation (ANC). Additionally, it has a sound playback capacity of up to eight hours (up to 30 hours with the charging case) while ANC is active. The new design includes a wingtip to ensure better fit during workouts. Its starting price of $229 signifies a slight increase compared to the previous versions. The distribution of the new earbuds will begin on September 26.

Gemini Live

Gemini Live, announced by Google at the I/O event last May, is now available for Gemini Advanced subscribers. The new voice chat option allows users to ask questions aloud to Google’s AI assistant. The assistant responds using one of the 10 different voices you can choose from. Similar to ChatGPT’s voice assistant, Gemini Live also offers the ability to communicate with users and even has a feature to instantly interrupt the assistant’s speech.
