Rumors About Apple’s Slim iPhone 17 Slim

There are rumors that next year Apple plans to launch a very thin smartphone called the iPhone 17 Slim (or it might be named iPhone 17 Air). It is reported that this new device is part of Apple’s strategy to produce thinner and lighter devices compatible with the M4 iPad Pro.

However, for such an ultra-thin iPhone 17 to be successfully launched, some key components will need to be reliably sourced. First of all, this phone must have a thin, high-density battery to offer a battery life comparable to thicker models. Given that such batteries are already in use in other devices like the M4 iPad Pro and ultra-thin Honor foldable phones, we can comfortably say that this is possible.

In line with this battery technology, a new generation chip that is faster and more efficient than existing processors will also need to be used. Additionally, components like RAM may need to be reduced and slimmed down for such a phone. This is where Samsung’s new “ultra-thin” RAM chip may come into play. Of course, for the thin iPhone 17 to be viable in this series, it will also need to have an artificial intelligence system with high data processing capability.

Furthermore, Apple had previously stated that devices with Apple Intelligence capabilities require at least 8 GB of RAM to function properly. However, this does not mean that Samsung’s new LPDDR5X RAM packages developed for “on-device artificial intelligence” are only designed for ultra-thin iPhones. A notable point is that Samsung has fallen behind its Chinese competitors in this area. Nevertheless, the widespread adoption of these thin RAM chips increases the likelihood of Apple launching its rumored thin iPhone (and possibly Samsung’s similar model).
