The film based on the Borderlands series has finally reached its eagerly awaited release date. With the film’s premiere, it achieved an opening box office of $8.8 million. According to information shared by Variety, the film entered North American cinemas at fourth place, falling behind the romantic drama It Ends With Us, which was one of the significant productions of the past week, having earned $50 million in its opening week.

The film covered 60% of its costs. Borderlands received some positive feedback from viewers in terms of atmosphere and characters. However, it performed quite poorly compared to other films. To elaborate, it is noteworthy that it lagged behind productions like Deadpool & Wolverine (which earned $54.2 million in its third week) and Twisters (which earned $15.4 million in its fourth week). Variety also emphasized that the film performed worse on the international stage.

Internationally, the film managed to earn an additional $7.7 million, reaching a total of $16.5 million worldwide. Moreover, many publications described the film as “embarrassing” or shameful.

The production budget of the film was determined to be approximately $115 million. Additionally, marketing and distribution costs are around $30 million. Variety reported that about 60% of these costs were covered through international pre-sales.
