Intel Unveils New GPU for Cars
Intel has introduced its new GPU Arc A760A, specifically designed for automotive technology. This innovative graphics processor aims to bring “high-level gaming experiences” from our homes to our cars. Although no automotive partner has yet been announced to use this GPU, new generation chips are planned to be launched as early as 2025.
According to Intel’s press release, car buyers are increasingly placing importance on in-car entertainment systems. In this context, the Arc A760A is designed with the goal of “opening a new era in AI-supported cockpit experiences“. The GPU offers features such as sound, camera, and motion recognition, and has the capability to control “up to seven high-resolution screens that create 3D graphics and six in-car cameras“.
Additionally, the Arc A760A can seamlessly run high-end games with intense graphics demands, in-car entertainment systems, and AI-supported productivity applications. Intel emphasizes that this system is highly customizable according to the driver’s needs. The company stated that this customization would include features such as executing complex vehicle control commands using natural language processing technology, accurately answering vehicle-related questions, and chatting more comfortably with users. Thus, the goal is to provide a more interactive and enjoyable travel experience.
Intel also announced that it has developed over 500 features and AI applications for cars in collaboration with more than 100 independent software vendors working on in-car experiences. Furthermore, the A760A GPU is designed to work fully compatible with software developed for the iGPU PC platform and can be scalable for use across a wide range of vehicles from entry-level to mid and high-end models.
With this new product and its announcements, Intel reiterates its goal of being a significant partner that car manufacturers can turn to. Additionally, in light of recent quality control issues related to computer chips and financial challenges that could lead to the layoff of over 15,000 employees, it is clear that the company aims to diversify its strategies.
