Xiaomi’s Innovative Hidden Camera Detection Feature

According to recent rumors, Xiaomi plans to add a new hidden camera detection feature to its phones to enhance user security. The Chinese smartphone giant is preparing to introduce its next software update, HyperOS 2.0, which will include this innovative feature for detecting hidden cameras.

According to reports from XiaomiTime, HyperOS 2.0 will allow compatible Xiaomi devices to detect hidden cameras using wireless local area network (WLAN) signals. With this feature, Xiaomi phone users will be able to easily identify suspicious devices in their surroundings.

The alleged Hidden Camera Detection function draws attention with the message, “Detect hidden cameras to protect your privacy and personal security” in several screenshots. These images also show that users can scan for suspicious devices with a single touch. Once the feature is activated, users will only need to press the Start Scan button and wait for the devices to be detected. After the scanning process is completed, users will be able to find out if any hidden cameras are present.

Notably, HyperOS 2.0’s new privacy feature may have been inspired by a previously developed Python-based software called Ingram. Ingram is a tool that detects vulnerabilities in hidden cameras by scanning IP addresses. Additionally, this program includes various functions such as signal strength analysis, SSID broadcasting, MAC address identification, and network traffic analysis.

Xiaomi’s security feature will provide a significant advantage, especially for users who are traveling or in new environments. The version of HyperOS 2.0, which will include the hidden camera detection feature, is expected to be released in October of this year. This innovation is regarded as an important step in protecting users’ personal privacy.
