Poland Enhances Military Capability with New Helicopter Deals
In a significant move to bolster national security, Poland’s Ministry of Defence has finalized two crucial offset agreements with major aerospace giants Boeing and General Electric. These contracts, signed on Monday, are associated with the procurement of the advanced AH-64E Apache attack helicopters and are valued at approximately €230 million.
The agreements were formally signed by Polish Deputy Defence Minister Pawel Bejda, Boeing’s regional manager for international contracts Brigit Parkinson, and Rita Flaherty, vice president of sales and business development at General Electric. This collaboration represents a substantial investment in the modernization of Poland’s military capabilities.
Deputy Minister Bejda highlighted the strategic importance of these helicopters, stating, “The Polish Army is about to acquire these helicopters, which will significantly enhance our readiness and security in light of the ongoing conflict beyond our borders, particularly the war in Ukraine.”
- The contract with Boeing is valued at roughly €93 million.
- The agreement with General Electric amounts to approximately €123 million.
- The previous Polish government announced the purchase of a total of 96 AH-64E Apache attack helicopters in 2022.
This acquisition is expected to play a vital role in strengthening Poland’s defense posture amid growing regional tensions.
