Imane Khelif, a talented boxer from Algeria, has recently found herself at the center of a heated controversy surrounding eligibility and fairness in women’s boxing. I.O.C. president Thomas Bach emphasized this point during a press conference, stating:

“We have two boxers who are born as women, who have been raised as women, who possess passports identifying them as women, and who have competed for many years as women. This is the clear definition of a woman. There was never any doubt about them being women.”
