Announcement of Samsung’s New 3nm Exynos 2500 Chipset

Samsung officially introduced its self-developed 3nm smartphone chipset Exynos 2500 during its latest financial report presentation. The company announced that this innovative chipset is expected to be released towards the end of this year. The Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25 Plus models are anticipated to utilize this chipset in certain regions.

Notably, the Exynos 2500 is Samsung’s second 3nm chipset produced in-house. Last month, the Exynos W1000 chipset, based on 3nm technology, was also introduced. This next-generation chip is featured in wearable devices such as the Galaxy Watch 7 and Galaxy Watch Ultra, which were launched this month.

The company’s Q2 financial results report for 2024 revealed that the System LSI unit, which develops camera sensors and smartphone processors, will not encounter any issues regarding the Exynos 2500 chipset for “premium products.” Furthermore, it was stated that after receiving positive feedback for the Exynos W1000, which is the first 3nm chipset used in Samsung’s wearable products, there is significant confidence in the Exynos 2500 as well.

The new chipset will be manufactured using a second-generation GAA process to minimize performance and efficiency issues. Samsung is expected to unveil the Galaxy S25 series in the first quarter of 2025. It is anticipated that the high-end S series Galaxy devices will utilize both Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 and Exynos 2500 chipsets depending on the region.

Previous reports suggested that Samsung is also considering the MediaTek Dimensity chipset for the Galaxy S25 series. There are indications that the Exynos 2500 is ready to surpass the performance of Snapdragon 8 Gen 4. Additionally, it is thought that Samsung may use computer heat sink technology to manage heat distribution more effectively in the Exynos 2500.
