New Features Related to the Clock’s Appearance in Windows 11

Microsoft is planning to make some significant changes to the appearance of the clock located in the bottom right corner of the desktop in the Windows 11 operating system. One of these changes is the reactivation of the feature that shows seconds on the clock. During the development of the first version of Windows 11, this feature was moved, and it received substantial criticism from some users. However, Microsoft had decided to maintain its stance despite these criticisms. Many users did not bother to look for the feature to show seconds, and for those glancing at the system tray, time became a concept always limited to minutes.

But now, Microsoft is preparing to correct this unexpected situation. In the release notes of the latest Windows 11 Insider Preview build, the company announced that the option to “Show seconds on the system tray clock” will be returned. This option was previously found under Settings > Personalization > Taskbar > Taskbar behaviors in stable Windows 11 versions. However, in recent preview versions, this option has been moved to the “Show date and time” dropdown menu under Settings > Time & Language > Date & time.

Additionally, it should be noted that it is always possible to use the search option to find the necessary setting. If your time management is quite strict and you need seconds, keep in mind that you can view seconds on the Windows screen whenever you want. With this update, it is aimed to provide a more functional experience for users.
