Qualcomm has introduced the new Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 Mobile Platform aimed at entry-level 5G smartphones. This innovative mobile processor will support significant features such as gigabit 5G connectivity and all-day battery life, as well as new camera features like EIS (Electronic Image Stabilization) and multi-frame noise reduction.
Additionally, dual-band NavIC provides better location accuracy, while AI-enhanced audio experience, FHD+ screen support, and Game Network Latency Manager innovations make this new entry-level processor more attractive to consumers. The performance features of Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 include:
- Advanced power saving: Energy consumption is reduced thanks to the efficient 4nm process node.
- Fast charging: With Qualcomm Quick Charge 4+ technology, it can charge up to 50% in just 15 minutes.
- High performance: Faster data processing and application performance are provided by the Qualcomm Kryo CPU, which offers speeds of up to 2 GHz.
- Updated memory: Overall performance is enhanced with UFS 3.1 memory, which offers faster data processing.
Qualcomm emphasizes that the Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 platform will make 5G accessible to 2.8 billion smartphone users in certain regions and will offer download speeds of up to 1 Gbps, which is seven times faster than LTE platforms found in smartphones in a similar price range.
Commenting on the launch, Xiaomi India President Muralikrishnan B stated, “We are very excited to work with Qualcomm Technologies to enable users to access gigabit-speed connectivity. Many people have yet to experience the benefits of 5G, and with Snapdragon 4s Gen 2, Xiaomi can offer 5G connectivity to a broader audience to help reshape the way the world connects and interacts.” Xiaomi will be the first Android original equipment manufacturer (OEM) to adopt the Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 processor, with the first device expected to be introduced by the end of 2024. Additionally, it has been confirmed that other major OEMs will also offer devices using this new processor.
