Samsung Makes a Significant Change in Its Messaging Application
A few days ago, it was revealed that Samsung would abandon its messaging application, Samsung Messages, and choose Google Messages as the default messaging application on its devices. This change means that Samsung, which has offered two different messaging applications on Galaxy devices for many years, is finally opting for Google Messages over its own application.
This important change is reportedly applicable only to Galaxy users in the United States, starting with the recently introduced Galaxy Z Flip6 and Galaxy Z Fold6 models. Samsung sent a notification to Galaxy users confirming that Google Messages, which has RCS (Rich Communication Services) support enabled by default, will be the default messaging application on Galaxy phones.
Galaxy owners can still download the Samsung Messages application via the Galaxy Store; however, it is stated that some features may not be available. It is notable that Samsung has not yet explained the reasons behind this decision. However, in a statement to Android Authority, it was expressed that Samsung and Google are working closely in many areas of communication services. The transition to Google Messages was emphasized to provide significant advantages in terms of service quality and user experience.
