Wave of Layoffs at Humble Games
Recently, Humble Games has joined the widespread wave of layoffs. Following rumors about the company potentially shutting down, a total of 36 employees had to leave the studio. Nicola Kwan, the head of business development in the company’s publishing division, announced this situation via LinkedIn.
Humble Games Enters Restructuring Process
Kwan mentioned in her post that she had heard rumors regarding the company closing down. However, Humble Games, owned by IGN, emphasized in a statement to Game Developer magazine that such a situation is not the case and that the team is merely being reorganized following the layoffs.
After the layoffs, the company entered a restructuring process aimed at ensuring the stability of ongoing projects and reducing financial burdens. This journey, which began in 2017, continues with its challenges. The company launched its first game, A Hat in Time, and since then has successfully released many projects such as Slay the Spire, Unpacking, Temtem, Signalis, and Stray Gods: The Roleplaying Musical.
