Important Statement from Capcom Regarding Physical Game Production

Capcom has made a new statement regarding the recent increase in digital sales. Nowadays, many games are offered for sale through digital platforms, while the production of physical versions has decreased due to certain costs and transportation issues. However, Capcom announced that despite this situation, they will not give up on physical game production.

90% of Capcom’s Game Sales Are Digital

During the Q&A session at the company’s 45th Annual General Meeting, it was revealed that 90% of Capcom’s total sales are made through digital platforms, with the remaining 10% consisting of physical versions. Despite the low physical sales, it was emphasized that Capcom will not step back in this area and will continue to offer collectors’ editions to players.

In the statement, “Although digital sales have surpassed physical versions, a significant portion of users continues to demand physical versions. Considering this situation, we do not plan to completely eliminate physical products.” was stated.

In its announcement for the 2023 fiscal year, Capcom indicated that 90.1% of its total sales belong to digital games. Additionally, it was noted that in recent years, some major games, such as Alan Wake 2, have been released only digitally. It was reported that the physical collector’s editions of these types of games were later released in collaboration with Limited Run by Remedy and Epic Games. Therefore, physical versions generally meet players after the game’s release.
