Windows 11 and Microsoft’s Advertising Strategies

Windows 11 is increasingly becoming “Microsoft’s billboard” every day. By promoting its own software through Windows 11, Microsoft sometimes receives negative feedback, contrary to the positive reactions it expects.

According to Windows Latest, Microsoft’s latest marketing move is a pop-up window aimed at increasing the usage of the Windows Backup application, which was introduced last year in Windows 11 and Windows 10. As the name suggests, Windows Backup allows users to back up files on their computers and utilizes Microsoft’s cloud storage service OneDrive to do so.

Windows Latest reports that it encountered a persistent notification promoting the Windows Backup application in the notifications panel at the bottom right corner of the desktop. This notification included the message directed to the tech site: “Your computer is not fully backed up. Backup for Credentials and Folders is not enabled. Back up now to save these in case something happens to your computer.” This situation appears to be implemented with an update made on the server side. Therefore, it may automatically appear at any moment on your device with Windows 11 installed. However, we can hope that this notification will only be shown to those who do not use the backup application.

It is noted that the notification offers the user two options: to close the notification or select “Back up now.” If you choose the backup option, the Windows Backup application is activated and starts syncing your files (as well as system settings, applications, and essentially your entire PC) with OneDrive.
