Silicon Valley’s Ambitious Start-Up City Plans Delayed

The highly anticipated plans for a start-up city in Silicon Valley are now on hold. The East Solano Plan, which has garnered support from a number of prominent technology billionaires, aims to create a new city capable of accommodating up to 400,000 residents on farmland located approximately 60 miles from San Francisco. However, the project is facing a delay of at least two years as the developers emphasize the necessity of conducting a thorough environmental impact assessment.

This announcement comes as part of a collaborative agreement between California Forever, the organization spearheading the development, and a representative from the Solano County Board of Supervisors. As a result of this agreement, a proposed ballot initiative that California Forever intended to present to voters in Solano County this year will not be included in the November ballot as originally planned.

In place of this initiative, California Forever has committed to utilizing the remainder of this year and the entirety of next year to prepare a comprehensive environmental impact report. Additionally, they will be working on formulating a development agreement with the county to ensure the project aligns with local regulations and community interests.
