New Charging Optimization Feature in Android 15
The new charging optimization feature that comes with Android 15 is designed to extend the battery life of your smartphone. It enhances your usage experience by providing a more efficient charging process and energy savings.
New Charging Optimization Feature for Android
One of the most common issues for smartphone users is the gradual decrease in battery life over time. It is crucial to maintain battery health for long-term use. In this regard, Google may be working on a new feature for the Android operating system. According to a report by Android Authority, a hidden ‘charging optimization’ setting was discovered in the latest Android 15 beta version. However, it is noted that this setting is currently inactive and users need to dive into the code to access this feature.
Reviews have revealed a new option that limits the charging level of users’ phones to 80%. Charging a battery to 80% is healthier than charging it to 100%, which could help extend the battery life of phones.
It is not yet clear which phone models this new feature will come to. However, it is expected to be available for the Pixel 8 series and other new Pixel models. On the other hand, it is known that similar features are available on most Android phones, with some brands like Samsung and Apple’s iPhone models also offering similar charging limit options. Therefore, it seems logical for Google to develop a similar feature.
Unlike the options for charging limits of 80%, 85%, 90%, and 95% that will be introduced with iOS 18, according to Android Authority’s findings, the charging limit on Android will not be customizable. Additionally, this new feature will not conflict with the adaptive charging feature that learns the charging habits of Pixel phones and predicts when to unplug the device. Users will have the option to choose between these two features.
