Tragic Disappearance and Grim Discoveries in Nairobi

In a heart-wrenching case that has gripped the community, 26-year-old hair braider Josephine Owino vanished one morning last month in the bustling shantytown of Mukuru Kwa Njenga, located in Kenya’s capital, Nairobi. Her disappearance came abruptly after she left her home to meet someone who had just contacted her via phone.

Desperate to locate her sister, Ms. Owino’s younger sibling, Peris Keya, tirelessly visited three different police stations, pleading for assistance in the search. However, her efforts were met with indifference, and no action was taken to help find Josephine. It was only after a profoundly disturbing dream that Peris felt a glimmer of hope. In her dream, Josephine appeared to her, guiding her up a hill and urging her to search in a pool of water.

Following this vision, Peris Keya, aged 24, enlisted the help of local men to investigate an abandoned quarry nearby. She offered them payment for their assistance in a grim task that would soon yield shocking results. Since then, authorities and human rights activists report that approximately 10 sacks containing body parts have been retrieved from the quarry, which was filled with a thick layer of floating trash.

On Monday, the Kenyan police announced a major breakthrough in the case with the arrest of a suspected serial killer. They identified him as Collins Jumaisi Khalusha, 33, who allegedly confessed to the murders of 42 women over the past two years, including that of his own wife. The suspect reportedly disposed of the bodies in the very dump that Peris and her helpers had searched.

While the police claim to have conducted a forensic analysis of a cellphone belonging to one of the victims, leading them to Khalusha, skepticism remains widespread. The suspect’s lawyer has accused the police of employing torture to elicit a confession, raising further questions about the integrity of the investigation. Many Kenyans are left feeling uneasy as the speed of the police’s actions has sparked distrust among the public.

The discovery of body parts in a dump located just across the street from a police station has sent shockwaves through the community, igniting fear and rampant speculation about the identity of the perpetrator behind these horrific acts.
