Hundreds of Israelis gathered in Tel Aviv to protest and demand action from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu regarding the ongoing hostage situation. The protesters were calling for the Prime Minister to finalize a deal to bring the hostages home and to provide an explanation for his recent remark that “the hostages are suffering, but not dying.”

The demonstration took place as an Israeli delegation traveled to Egypt for cease-fire talks, while negotiations between Israel and Hamas were ongoing. Among the protesters was Eyal Kalderon, whose cousin Ofer Kalderon remains in captivity. Eyal emphasized the urgency of the situation, urging Netanyahu to act swiftly to secure the release of the hostages.

“We are calling for the Prime Minister to seal this deal. The Defence Minister and all the security services are indicating that now is the right moment to close this deal. If we miss this opportunity, it may be lost forever. Netanyahu must act now for the sake of the country and our community,” Eyal stated.

The protests coincided with international efforts to facilitate a phased agreement between Israel and Hamas that would end the conflict and result in the release of approximately 120 hostages still held by the militant group in Gaza.
