XBTO Launches Tokenization Team for Real World Assets
XBTO has introduced a dedicated Tokenization Team focused on bringing real world assets onto the blockchain, offering new opportunities for asset tokenization and investment.
Cryptocurrency trading firm XBTO has recently established a dedicated tokenization team with a primary focus on real world assets (RWAs). This initiative marks a significant step towards advancing blockchain-based corporate debt issuances that XBTO has been actively involved in. The firm’s endeavors in this area have initially centered around mid-tier corporate debt issuances, with plans to expand into sectors like real estate in the future.
The spotlight in the tokenization space has predominantly been on major banks such as JPMorgan and asset management giants like BlackRock, primarily concentrating on blockchain-based versions of U.S. Treasuries. In contrast, XBTO, headquartered in Bermuda, has been pioneering tokenized debt offerings, including the issuance of “senior e-notes” by boutique airline BermudAir. Additionally, hemp and CBD producer AgroRef is set to launch an e-note through XBTO in the near future.
The newly formed tokenization team, spearheaded by Managing Director Mas Nakachi, collaborates with the on-chain capital markets platform Obligate. The e-notes issued are evaluated by Credora, a platform specializing in technology-driven credit assessments, as confirmed by XBTO.
XBTO’s Chief Commercial Officer, Javier Rodriguez Alarcon, emphasized the potential benefits for smaller companies seeking financing through tokenization. Such companies may face challenges accessing traditional financing markets and could incur high costs associated with engaging investment banks. By leveraging tokenization, these companies can potentially reduce financial burdens, offer more attractive investment opportunities to investors, and benefit from the speed and transparency inherent in crypto-based transactions.
XBTO, a Bermuda-regulated entity, restricts access to its tokenized assets to accredited investors outside the U.S., ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
