According to information revealed by illustrator and character artist Nicholas Kole, who worked with Toys for Bob on both Spyro Reignited Trilogy and Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time, the new project was canceled without specifying a reason. In a post on the Twitter platform, Kole stated that he had been working on the project for 3 years but it is no longer continuing. In his post, Kole first provided information about Project Dragon. When a user asked if Project Dragon was a new Spyro game, he replied ‘no,’ stating that this project is being developed by a different studio. As for Crash Bandicoot 5, Kole confirmed that this project was canceled.
Finally, according to the latest information, the new game of the series was being developed by Toys for Bob. This team faced significant layoffs in February. Shortly after, they took a rapid step towards independence.
